  • Before Freddy, the youngest player to sign with MLS was Santino Quaranta, who joined the league in 2000 at the age of 16.
  • According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Freddy is the youngest player to take the field for a team in a major American sport since Fred Chapman debuted as a 14-year-old in 1887 for Philadelphia of baseball’s American Association.
  • Freddy served as the translator for Nana Kuffour, an 18-year-old player from Ghana on an extended tryout with D.C. United during 2004.
  • Freddy’s favorite number is 11. But he wears #9 for D.C. United because teammate Alecko Eskandarian already had #11. Alecko, the son of former New York Cosmos star Andranik Eskandarian, was the first overall pick of the 2003 MLS draft.

  • Freddy is a golf fanatic. His best score to date is 84, at the Montgomery Country Club in Maryland. He says his dream foursome is him, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley.
  • Freddy’s favorite movies are The Lord of the Rings trilogy. His favorite meal is jollos and rice, an African stew that his mom makes. She prepares it in a special way, cooking the rice along with the stew.
  • Freddy has already been immortalized in EA Sport’s FIFA Street video game.
  • Freddy’s friends like to call him “Doogie Howser” because he graduated from high school at such an early age.
  • Freddy has a crush on actress Hilary Duff.
  • Freddy bought a five-bedroom house in Rockville, Maryland. His favorite spot is the rec room in basement, which includes a pool table and state-of-the-art stereo system.
  • Freddy is a talented artist. He entered his first art contest as a fifth grader and won the top prize.
  • Freddy’s brother is a good player in his own right. When he graduates from Georgetown Prep School, he hopes to continue his soccer career at North Carolina.
