- In 1993, Eddie joined Hall of
Famers Terry Sawchuk, Bernie Parent, Ken Dryden and Jacques Plante when he
won 40 games for the second time in his career.
- Eddies goaltending style
demands peak fitness. He has been a workout freak since high school, when
he began competing in triathlons.
- Eddie got married before signing
his first pro contract. He and wife Rita (they are now divorced) had their
first child, Dayn, during Eddies rookie year with the Blackhawks.
- Eddie is often among the leaders
in penalty minutes for goalies. He is not averse to leaving the crease to
take a swipe at an offending forward.
- Eddie
believes he picked up part of his hard-nosed nature from his father, who
worked in Carmans Public Works Department until 1997.
- Eddie loves carsworking
on them and racing them, too. Among those he has had in his collection are
a 1968 Roadrunner, 1971 'Cuda, 1970 Challenger, 1969 GTX, 1967 Charger, and
1970 Super Vee.
