Adrian Beltre

  • Adrian was the first Dodger to make the jump from AA to the majors since Gary Ingram in 1994.
  • In 1997, Adrian missed winning the Florida State League Triple Crown by eighthits.
  • Adrian was the MVP of the Dominican Winter League in 1999, with 10 homers and 37 RBIs.
  • Adrian tied for the lead among NL third basemen with 29 errors in 1999.
  • When Adrian’s surgical incision failed to heal in 2001, he had to wear a colostomy bag and could not eat solid food for two months. He lost more than 25 pounds.
  • Adrian is one of the few major league infielders who refuses to wear a cup. Robin Ventura likes to joke, “I guess he’s not too worried about being a father.”
  • Prior to 2004, the joke around the Dodger front office was that they should have Adrian hypnotized to believe every month is the month of August—always his hottest month.
  • Adrian is a self-described videotape junkie. He has film on every pitcher in the league and has committed their pitching patterns to memory.
