Chris Bosh

  • Chris was such a Kevin Garnett fan in high school that his nickname was KG.
  • In the summer of 2002, Chris led a team of 17- and 18-year-olds to an upset over Yugoslavia in the finals of the Global Games. Among his opponents was Nenad Krstic, who had just been drafted in the first round by the Nets.
  • Chris was named ACC Rookie of the Year in 2003.
  • Chris’s best friend at Georgia Tech was Jarret Jack. He was thrilled when the Yellowjackets reached the Final Four the season after he departed for the pros.
  • Chris’s only regret about leaving Georgia Tech after a year is that he misses the camaraderie of college ball.
  • Chris is the only ACC player besides Antawn Jamison to lead the conference in field goal percentage as a freshman.
  • Chris was the fifth Dallas-area player to be a Top-5 pick in the NBA draft. The others were Dave Stallworth, Larry Johnson, Tony Battie and Kenyon Martin.
  • Chris analyzed tapes of Kevin Garnett, and perfected KG’s spin move on the baseline. The first time they faced each other, he used it on Garnett and scored.
  • In 2003-04, Chris led all rookies in blocks and rebounds. He holds the franchise record for rebounds in a game by a rookie, with 16.
  • Chris was a first-team NBA All-Rookie selection in 2004.
  • Chris was named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week at the beginning of January 2005. It marked only the second time a Raptor had earned this honor.
  • Chris’s fans call him CB4. His mother still calls him Christopher.
  • Chris was a member of the Engineering Club at Lincoln High.
  • Chris says his father is his hero. He taught him how to take responsibility for his life, and explained how life would change as he became a big-time player.
  • Chris is addicted to video games. It drives his father crazy.
  • After signing his contract with the Raptors, Chris banked his money and bought a Chevy Avalanche.
  • During the summer before his first NBA season, Chris worked out in Dallas with fellow Big D native Kurt Thomas.
  • As a Georgia Tech freshman, Chris was taking courses that would have led to an engineering degree. He continues to pursue his education, but has switched to business management classes.
  • Chris and his mother read a book a month, then discuss it when they are done.
