Joe Montana once
took time to sign an autograph and chat with Tom when he was a kid.
Chili Davis, one of Tom's favorite baseball players, blew him off. Each
episode made a deep impression on Tom, who almost never turns down an
autograph request from a young fan.
A record crowd
of 111,523 witnessed Tom and Michigan defeat Notre Dame in their 1999
season opener.
Tom had a streak
of 162 pass attempts without an interception during the 2001 season.
In 2001, Tom became
just the fifth quarterback to be named to the Pro Bowl in the season
of his first NFL start. The others were Dan Marino (1983), Brett Favre
(1992), Kurt Warner (1999), and Daunte Culpepper (2000).
Tom threw his 100th
career TD pass in 2005 against the Carolina Panthers. It was a one-yarder
to Daniel Graham.

an NFL record by hitting 12 different teammates with TD passes.

an NFL record when he won his 21st game in a row.
In 2007, Tom became
just the second Patriot to top the 30-TD mark. Babe Parilli was the
first.
Tom set a franchise
mark with six TD passes against the Miami Dolphins in 2007.
The only players
to win two or more Super Bowl MVPs are Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw,
Bart Starr and Tom.
Tom set a Super
Bowl record against the Carolina Panthers with 32 completions.
Tom had surgery
on his right shoulder in February of 2004. He was in particularly good
hands afterwards. Pope John Paul II blessed the QB, who later said he
felt better.
Tom is the latest
in a long line of sports luminaries to graduate from Junipero Serra
High. Among the more notable alumni are Barry Bonds, Lynn Swann, John
Robinson, Jim Fregosi, and Gregg Jefferies.
Tom is an excellent
golfer. He began playing at age two, and today is a single-digit handicapper.
Tom regularly shoots in the high 70s when he tees it up.
Tom was invited
to be a judge for Miss USA 2002. He flew to the pageant in Gary, Indiana
with Donald Trump in the moguls private jet. He also played a
round of golf with John Elway, hung out with Barry Bonds and Willie
Mays, and met Muhammad Ali at a charity event.
Tom has a devilish
sense of humor, and loves to play practical jokes. During one battle
of pranks with Drew Bledsoe he locked the quarterbacks pads in
his own car then hid the keys. He also poured staining powder into Bledsoes
socks, giving him purple feet for three weeks.
In 2005, the Pats
inked Tom to a six-year, $60-million contract.
In 2006, Tom sued
Yahoo! for using his likeness to promote the company's fantasy football
game.
Tom and ex-girlfriend,
supermodel Bridget Moynahan, had a son, John, in 2007.
