  • Among Robinson’s teammates on the 2002 Greensboro Bats was outfielder Yehncy Brazoban. The Yankees would move the hard-throwing, light-hitting Brazoban to the pitching mound in 2003. In 2005, he saved 21 games for the Dodgers.

  • After his rookie year, the Yankees denied Robinson’s request to play winter ball. He reported to camp a few pounds overweight in 2006, so the team let him play in the Dominican League prior to the 2007 season.

  • Lefthanded-hitting second basemen are a relative rarity in the majors. Robinson already has played more games at second for New York than any other lefty.
  • Robinson admits that he is paranoid about slumps. No matter how well he does in one game, he is always worried about not getting a hit in the next.
  • In 2005, Robinson was given the key to the city of Newark by mayor Sharpe James. He lived in Newark for three years as a boy.
