- Richard’s
509 points in his freshman season at UConn were the most by a first-year
Huskie since Corny Thompson's 538 in 1978-79.
- When Richard was
named co-Player of the Year in the Big East in 1999, he joined Patrick
Ewing and Chris Mullin as the only two-time winners of the award.
- Richard finished
his career at UConn with 2,036 points, second on the school’s
all-time list to Chris Smith.
- Richard can run
a five-minute mile.
- One of Richard's
off-season shooting drills involves sprinting the length
of the court between attempts.
- Richard’s
favorite hang-out in Coatesville is Ron’s Barber Shop. Hel oves
how stylist Marquis Diamonds cuts his hair. In fact, when Richard was
in college, his father used to drive “Quis” up to UConn
during the basketball season.
- To honor his grandfather,
Richard added a tattoo to his right shoulder which reads: Edward Hamilton,
Oct. 9, 1922-Sept. 25, 1998.
- Richard says he
owns about 200 pairs of sneakers. His favorite is a pair of Air Jordans
with his name of them. He calls them “The Rips.”
- Richard’s
personal chef is Shawn Loving, who owns a restaurant in suburban Detroit.
He also cooks for rapper Jay-Z.
- Richard no longer
needs his goggles. In the summer of 2004, he had LASIK surgery in California.
His vision now is 20-15.
- Richard was once
paid by Goodyear to braid his hair in the pattern of one of its tires.
