- The 2015 Daytona 500 was Joey’s first restrictor-plate win.
- Joey was the first NASCAR and Sprint Cup driver to be born in the 1990s.
- At Loudon in 2014, Joey was involved in a wreck with 72-year-old Morgan Shepherd. Their 48-year age difference was the most ever between two NASCAR drivers involved in an accident.
- At the 2013 Michigan 400, Joey’s 203.949 mph qualifying time was the fastest at a NASCAR event since Bill Elliott at Talladega in 1987.
- Joey was the first driver to compete in NASCAR’s three major divisions in the same season.
- Joey was nicknamed Slice Bread as a rookie.
- Joey made his Craftsman Truck Series debut in 2008 at the Mountain Dew 250.
