  • Monta’s 4,167 points in high school set a big-school (4A & 5A) record.
  • As a high school senior, Monta averaged 7.8 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 4.5 steals to go along with 38.4 points per game. He was named Mississippi’s Mr. Basketball for 2004–05.
  • Joining Monta on the 2005 Parade All-America First Team were Greg Oden, Tyler Hansbrough, Martell Webster and Brandan Wright. Second Teamers that year included O.J. Mayo, Kevin Durant and Greg Paulus.
  • Monta’s first NBA basket was a three-pointer in December of 2005,
  • Monta’s best game as a rookie came in the season finale against Utah. He played 44 minutes against the Jazz and scored 27 points. He achieved season highs in rebounds, assists and steals in the game.
  • Monta played for the Sophomore team in the 2007 Rookie Challenge. He scored 28 points, many on thunderous dunks.
  • Monta ranked in the Top 10 in the NBA in steals in 2006–07.
  • Monta finished three points ahead of Kevin Martin in 2007 for the Most Improved Player award. 
  • Monta dished out 13 assists against the Los Angeles Clippers in a 2007-08 game.
  • Monta had four consecutive 30-point games during the 2007–08 season.
  • Monta ranked eighth in the league in field goals made in 2007–08.
  • Monta’s nickname is the “Mississippi Bullet.”
  • Monta was the first player the Warriors ever drafted straight out of high school
  • Monta’s 2008 team suspension cost him $3 million.
  • Monta is a noted trick shot artist. In 2010, he reportedly made a basket during a shootaround from the tunnel leading to the locker room—with his back to the basket.
