  • In 2006, Matt became the first Dodger and fifth player to hit four homers in his first 10 days as a major leaguer.
  • Matt set a Dodgers record in 2008 with 153 strikeouts. He broke that mark in 2010 with 170.
  • In 2008, Matt became youngest Dodger to steal at least 35 bases in a season.
  • In 2009, Matt became the first Dodger to hit at least .295 with 25 HRs, 100 RBIs, and 20 steals in a single season. 
  • In 2010, Matt became the first player in history to homer in each of his team’s final five games.

  • In 2011, Matt became the first Dodger since Jeff Kent in 2005 with 100 runs and 100 RBIs in the same season. He also joined Dolph Camilli as the only Dodger to lead the NL in homers and RBIs.
  • Only Matt and Raul Mondesi have produced 30–30 seasons for the Dodgers. With his 40th steal in 2011, he became the team’s lone member of the 30–40 club.
  • Matt signed an eight-year contract extension after the 2011 season.
  • Matt earned the nickname “The Bison” in his second major league game, against the Atlanta Braves. An announcer said Matt looked “like a big buffalo running around the bases.”
  • Matt is good friends with NBA forward Trevor Ariza and Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
  • Matt dated singer Rihanna from December 2009 to November 2010.
  • Matt works with several charities that raise money for Autism research.
