  • Jimmy is one of only three NL shortstops to start all 162 games in a season. Leo Cardenas and Bill Russell are the other two.
  • Only four players—Jimmy, Fred Schulte, Curtis Granderson and Willie Mays—have had a season of 20 doubles, triples homers and steals. Of the four, Jimmy is the only one to also top 200 hits.
  • When asked if he would worry about his hitting streak over the winter of 2005-06, Jimmy said he was more worried about getting his garage cleaned out.
  • After Jimmy won the 2007 NL MVP, his parents hosted a huge barbecue in his honor. Among the guests was Rickey Henderson, his boyhood idol.
