  • Victor won three minor league MVP awards.
  • Victor is only the second All-Star catcher who began his pro career as a middle infielder. The other is Jorge Posada of the New York Yankees.
  • Victor’s best game as a major leaguer came against the Seattle Mariners on July 16, 2004. He went 5-for-5, clubbed three homers, and knocked in seven runs.
  • Victor hit 21 homers and drove in 101 runs as a catcher in 2004—both figures were the most for major league catchers.
  • Victor’s 23 home runs in 2004 were one shy of the team record for switch-hitters, set by Roberto Alomar in 1999.
  • Victor is the first Indians catcher to win the Silver Slugger Award.
  • Victor is one of the few Latino players who stays in the U.S. during the off-season. He would rather workout in Cleveland than reconnect with friends and family at home in Venezuela.
  • Victor was voted Cleveland’s Man of the Year for 2004.
  • Victor’s best friend is fellow Venezuelan Rafael Betancourt, a pitcher signed by the Indians in 2003.
  • Indians coach Buddy Bell, when asked about Victor's clutch hitting, compared him to a young Eddie Murray.
  • Victor and his wife had a son, Victor, Jr., in August of 2004. They are both active in Indians charities, including the Tribe Loving & Care hospital visit programs.

  • Victor toured Japan with a team of All-Stars aftert he 2004 season.
  • Victor lived with a host family, the Bixlers, during his first season as a minor leaguer. He still keeps in touch with them.
