• In 2004, Chien-Ming was the recipient of the Kevin Lawn "Pitcher of the Year" Award, honoring the Yankees' top minor league hurler.
• In 2005, Chien-Ming became the youngest pitcher (25 years, 188 days) to start a postseason game for the Yankees since Andy Pettitte (25 years, 113 days) started Game 5 of the 1997 ALDS against Cleveland.
• In 2006, when Chien-Ming won 19 games, he surpassed Chan Ho Park (18 in 2000) for the most victories in a single season by an Asian-born pitcher.
• In 2006, Chien-Ming became the first Yankee to earn a save between his normal turns in the rotation since John Candelaria in 1988 .
• Chien-Ming lists shortstop Derek Jeter as his favorite position player in the majors.
• When Chien-Ming is away from the game, he likes walking around New York City.
• Chien-Ming lives in Edgewater, New Jersey with his wife Chia-Ling Wu. They were married on December 7, 2003. Chien-Ming’s parents also live with them.
• After Chien-Ming made it public that he had been adopted, the Taiwanese media would not let his family alone. Chien-Ming was so upset by the treatment that he boycotted reporters in his homeland.
• One of Chieng-Ming’s more touching experiences was when Robinson Cano insisted he teach him how to say "brother" in Taiwanese.
• In 2007, Time magazine tabbed Chien-Ming as one of its Most Influential People in the World.
