- In 2004, Chien-Ming was the recipient of the Kevin Lawn "Pitcher of the Year" Award, honoring the Yankees' top minor league hurler.
- In 2005, Chien-Ming became the youngest pitcher (25 years, 188 days) to start a postseason game for the Yankees since Andy Pettitte (25 years, 113 days) started Game 5 of the 1997 ALDS against Cleveland.
- In 2006, when Chien-Ming won 19 games, he surpassed Chan Ho Park (18 in 2000) for the most victories in a single season by an Asian-born pitcher.
